Charlotte Gilmartin

After getting noticed at a skating party Charlotte was soon on her way to becoming one of Britainís best Short Track Skaters.

At the age of 15 she began representing Great Britain at the Junior level and has progressed through the ranks to compete as a Senior on the world stage.

Still only 23 Charlotte has represented Great Britain at many international competitions, including an individual bronze medal in the 1500m at the European Championships last season.

What is your favourite distance to skate and why? The 500m because it is the most exciting and there is less room for error.
What is your greatest achievement to date? Winning European relay gold in 2008.
What was your highlight of 2011-2012? In terms of skating it was getting to skate at Championships for the first time and coming 12th overall. In general though it has to be being part of the Ambition programme, going to a home Olympics and getting to watch Chris Hoy win gold and break the world record! Amazing atmosphere!
Sporting ambition: To win an Olympic medal.
How would you like to be remembered? Skillful and a champ!

Who inspired you most at the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games and why?
Sir Chris Hoy because I got to be there and watch him smash the world record and win gold. It was just incredible! I also sat with some GB cyclists and just hearing about his training routine and dedication was amazing.
Life after skating:
Iím too indecisive!
